November 201501 November 2015 It's been a while (May) since we have worked and during that time we have got used to sleeping in and getting up when we feel like it, so breaking that routine has made getting up early to get ready and then start work has been a little bit of a shock to the system. Our spot next to the office and accommodation building has made life easier and it is nice not to have to drive to work. The office has two bedrooms, a kitchen, toilet and shower, washing machine and table that doubles as the office, and next to it there is a four room donga, each room with their own ensuite. 07 November 2015 Normally we would have been working today but yesterdays weather and 21mm of rain spoiled it all. The week since we started has been rather busy and with 12 hour days quite hectic. Barley has been coming in quite quickly with our biggest day being 3,448 tonnes. Wheat has also started to come in and is steadily increasing in volume which bodes well for us as long as the weather holds off.
Our home among the gum tree's for the next little while.
Sunrise over the Barley stack.
But then the weather changed.
Sky Painting. With the clouds coming in again it was time to try some sky painting. Timed shots using an intervalometer and then stacked gives you this type of effect. The more frames you have the more dramatic the effect, but the rain put a stop to that, so more practice will be on the agenda when we have more time. 29 November 2015 Still in Bruce Rock as November comes to an end. Work has been plentiful and good these last few weeks. The Barley is almost over and coming in at a dribble but the Wheat has picked up significantly of late so things are still busy and our days 11 or 12 hours long for six days of each week keep us entertained. Today's shopping trip into Merredin after two weeks onsite was a nice break of scenery and the afternoon was taken up with some odd jobs and a bit of relaxation before work commences again tomorrow.
Sunset was particularly nice on this night during the week as we sat on the verandah in our usual spot enjoying a couple of beers with the boss after work.
Mark Twain once said "...years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do that by the things you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbour. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - and so we will. |
